"Scrappy Little Fingers"

Last year my daughter's kindergarten was hosting a trivia night in order to raise money...I wasn't able to make the night out, so I decided to make a quilt and donate it to the trivia night as an auction item.

I had approached the teachers about my idea and they thought it was great.

So with the help of the teachers and the children, "Scrappy Little Fingers" was created....

Firstly I decided to use a Scrappy pattern from Helen Darfter... I then asked the children and teachers to do hand prints on the front panels and back of the quilt with their names printed underneath... I also got some of the children do a drawing in the middle of the centre blocks to add more creativity..(Don't you just love the way 4yrs old children draw)....And to make it a little more different, I added some fancy stitching and some gems....And bright colours for bright children.... :-)

The quilt went to auction and raised $250 and is hanging on the kindergarten's wall for everyone to see...

My first attempt at makeing theses was a little rough so I thought I'd have another go at it..I think I'm getting better..... :-)

Sarah's Eye-Spy

My Daughter is so happy, she now has her very own eye-spy quilt. First trip, off to school for show and tell.

Pretty up the kitchen!

My good friend and neighbour, Anna Rosa , showed me some tea-towels that she had prettied up for the kitchen. I love it so much I had a to try one myself, but took it one step further and made a glove and tea-pot coaster to match. A little rough, but practice makes perfect. What a great idea for pressies....

Maison's Quilt.

I wanted to make a quilt for my son (Maison), but I found it difficult to find a pattern with boy colours.

I decided to go through my stash of P&Q mags and came across a pattern, I knew if I changed a few colours, could turn it into a boy's quilt. I based the colours around my son's favorite sport, 'soccer'.

I also had a go at doing the quilting myself, on my little sewing machine, on my kitchen table. So hard but go there in the end and I think it looks great.

'Patchwork Pumpkins' and added my own colours.
