I Won!

Hello bloggers...

Where has the time gone?  With life's many challengers and changes, children to look after and so many projects to complete, there just never seem's to be enough hours in the day or night...And I still have so much to do..

But what I can tell you is, I won an on-line competition with Kerryanne from 'Shabby Art Boutique'...
The course is called "Embracing the Passion" and I'm excited...I'm hoping this will help me find what it is that stops me from finding my inner creativeness..I know it's in there somewhere....

Over the last few weeks, I've been working on a few projects...I've almost  finished a couple of quilts and am hoping to have them up on my next post....Can't wait!
I also put my sewing skills to use and made my daughter a dress...She was so happy and extremely proud to wear it..
Looks like I'll have to make some more...just different colours...

Well I guess that's it for now..I'll try not to take so long at putting up posts...
I need more me time!!!!!

Hugs to all....  :-)

Happy Mother's Day :-)

Hello there,
Again it has been a busy few weeks...And eventually I've manage to jump onto the computer before my son gets home from school to take over...LOL....He just turned 10 on the 1st May, but the poor boy had spent most of the day in bed with ear infections...Fortunately for him, we planned his party this weekend....My Daughter however got to celebrate, as she lost her first tooth... A day I won't forget......

To keep you up to date on 'Country Romances', I have put all the 2.5 squares onto each block...
I still need to finish some blanket stitching and then I will start putting it together....
There are also three more boarders to put on and then the sandwhiching begins....

Over the past two weeks, my good friend Anna Rosa and I had a few play- days together where we would find something interesting to make that we haven't done before...
Anna had come across a purse pattern that is avaliable at Quiltsalott blogspot...I really like mine and had made a few more to give out as gifts...

We also made a tote bag that I'd come across in the Handmade magazine..I first made one for my daughter to see how it would come out..I liked it heaps but it was a little big, so I cut down the size a little and made another bag for my mum for mothers day..

I have also painted a Paper Towel holder for my mum....The idea is one of Anna Rosa's and with her guidence I painted it..I'm slowly getting the hang of 'Folk Art'.....  :-)

Wow my mum is going to be very spoilt this year....A long with  the bag, I'm also giving my mum a few more handmade gifts.....One of the purses, a kitchen set (glove, tea towels etc..), some hand towels for her bathroom, a hand painted paper roll holder and lastly a plastic bag holder which I'm still yet to do....

Happy Mother's Day...........

Almost done..Yeah.

Hello, hello, hello,

What a busy two weeks it has been..In my last post I wrote about a quilt I've been working on, 'Country Romance'..
I am almost finished...The blocks are all preped and ready to be 'blanket stitched' and the 2.5 are all cut out ready to join the blocks together...
I'm so excited...But oh how my body aches from all that cutting...

How cute are the bees on the leaves?

Still a long way to go..Next is the boarders...

Maison and Sarah are back at school, which means painting is back on...Yippie...
I've been working on a frame for my bathroom mirror and am almost finished...I can't wait to put it up and add some finesse to what is a very plain bathroom...Along with my  hand-towels that I've made, it's going to look inviting...I'd better stock up on some candles...  :-)

I've made a lot of quilts over the years and thought I would put one up every now and then for 'show & tell'
This one is called 'Roamance & Roses' a pattern I'd gotten from ' Craft Haven 'and it was the first time i had conquered the 'bullion stitch'..
I really didn't know what I was going to do with it...But as the end of completion was near and so was Xmas, I thought it would make a great gift for my big Sis...
When it came to quilting, I did a 'stitch in the ditch' around the blocks, a 'wave' stitch on the sashing and a 'straight stitch' on the boarders..

Well, thats all for now.
I hope you enjoyed reading my post...I will keep you up to date on 'Country Romance'...and hopefully I will have a pic of my Bathroom frame finished...

Until then take care everyone....Cheers

"Happy Easter"

Wow, what an Easter holiday... So much fun and yet exhausting....

Paul and I loaded up the trailer and car and took the kids up to Eildon for the Easter break...We stay there often over the holidays, about a ten minute walk from the town...

I didn't think we would get up there as Paul had gotten my nasty flu, but he soldiered on and off we went..

(I'm always amazed, when we drive up, at how the ferns and trees have grown back after 'Black Saturday)...

The weather was great, the kids were excited and so was I...They get to see the friends they've made and make knew ones..

This Easter the park had gone all out, spraying bunny foot prints all over the roads leading into the van sites..

On Easter morning when my daughter (Sarah) woke up and saw the prints..She really thought the Easter bunny had come...Especially when she noticed there were eggs hidden inside the van...She was so excited...Even more so when I told her the Easter Bunny was coming to the park...

She waited and waited and finally the fire truck arrived, with the sirens on...Standing on the truck was a Koala...Sarah was a little puzzled as to why?...I told her he was filling in for the Easter Bunny...She didn't mind when she saw he was throwing out Easter eggs...

Wow...i didn't realise how full the park was, until the children come running over...The busiest I've ever seen it...

And I forgot to take my camera.. :-(..

My son (Maison) did the usual...Play in the pool and when he eventually dragged his wet body out, he was riding his bike....He doesn't like chocolate so he wasn't interested in the Easter Bunny...(What child doesn't like chocolate?)..

When I go up to Eildon, I like to take some sewing with me...This time I took up a template design... I've never done paper piecing before and thought I'd have a go...It was easy as...Just not sure what to do with the blocks now...??????

Any Ideas?

So back to my story....Our holiday had come to an end and home we went...Silly me forgot about daylight savings ending and was going by the wrong time....hehehe

Tuesday night comes and my body clock is still in daylight savings mode....What to do?

I took out a quilt that I'm working on as a project with my favorite girls...We try to get together every Friday for a chat and a sew...Not sure if we get much sewing done, as it's also a support group for when someone is feeling down....(Cowboys are great for theses sort of days)....We also have girly days where we play hairdresser and everyone gets their hair done...Fortunately we have two hairdressers in our group....

Anyways, the quilt is called 'Country Roses' very similar to 'Nanna's Farm'...Another design from Patchwork Pumpkin....I've almost finished the blocks and then I have to join it with, roughly about 400, 2.5inch squares...A lot of cutting...I can't wait to have it all together...

I love doing applique, choosing colours and seeing it all come together...

"Scrappy Little Fingers"

Last year my daughter's kindergarten was hosting a trivia night in order to raise money...I wasn't able to make the night out, so I decided to make a quilt and donate it to the trivia night as an auction item.
I had approached the teachers about my idea and they thought it was great.

So with the help of the teachers and the children, "Scrappy Little Fingers" was created....

Firstly I decided to use a Scrappy pattern from Helen Darfter... I then asked the children and teachers to do hand prints on the front panels and back of the quilt with their names printed underneath... I also got some of the children do a drawing in the middle of the centre blocks to add more creativity..(Don't you just love the way 4yrs old children draw)....And to make it a little more different, I added some fancy stitching and some gems....And bright colours for bright children.... :-)

The quilt went to auction and raised $250 and is hanging on the kindergarten's wall for everyone to see...
